After graduating from Kingston University with a degree in Music and Technology, I spent several years at MCPS, working through Copyright, Member Services and Copyright Agreements, before ending up in the newly formed Central Licensing Department as part of a small team with responsibility for the Universal ECL agreement.
From there I moved to Dramatico Entertainment Ltd working for Mike Batt. Responsibilities included overseeing all accounts, licensing and royalty reporting for Katie Melua, as well as Dramatico’s other artists and distribution deals. I also had the great pleasure of playing on some of Katie’s tracks, being very involved in the day to day running of a small successful label, and feeding the dog.
At Music Business Associates Ltd I was responsible for Royalty Accounting, Business Management, Royalty Auditing, Tour Accounting and many other financial and business functions for artists, record labels, publishers and distributors including Newton Faulkner, MSHK, Eric Clapton, BBC Worldwide, Primal Scream, Jeff Wayne Music and ZTT. To date I have been involved with and completed over 70 royalty audits, both nationally and internationally, including publishing, labels, artists and musicians. Through RCMS Ltd I am an accredited PRS for Music auditor, and we have recently branched out with PRS into examining TV stations, Dance studios, Members clubs and Movie distributors.
I am still an active musician, the passion that brought me into the music business in the first place, and regularly play guitar, drums and bass as well as teaching and writing as and when time allows! I also love listening to music, although this is restricted to downloads these days as I have run out of room in the house for any more CD’s!
All of this experience has now been brought to Re-Counting Music Services Ltd, providing a unique understanding and experience of the music industry from the different sides: licensing, label, performance and accountants.
